On 10 October 2023 the Strata Legislation Amendment Bill was tabled in NSW Parliament.

This new legislation is expected to become law in early December.

The bill reflects a number of amendments to:

  1. The Strata Schemes Management Act 2015
  2. The Strata Schemes Development Act 2015
  3. The Community Land Management Act 2021, and
  4. The Community and Development Act

These changes have been proposed following the 5 Year Statutory law review, and are Stage 1 of 139 Recommendations to amend current legislation that were made during the public consultation period. Some of these changes include:

  • New obligations for Strata Managing Agents
  • New notice periods for Strata Meetings
  • The Keeping of Animals
  • Changes to the appointment and dismissal of Strata Committees
